Day 4 – Weekend prayer – Saturday, March 4 (with Sunday reflection)
Day 4 – Weekend prayer – Saturday, March 4 (with Sunday reflection)
We will hear at Mass on Sunday the story of Jesus being tempted by the
devil in the desert. St. Thérèse speaks
about what she does when she feels a spiritual combat – she runs away from the
evil and into the arms of Jesus! Maybe
we feel angry at our friend or our brother or sister? Maybe we want to not tell our mom and dad
when we’ve done something wrong? Maybe
we are tempted to lie? These are all
moments of temptation and our inside voice of the Holy Spirit lets us know “uh
oh! This is not good!” So, what do we do?
Do we debate it in our minds and try to think and argue about it with
our mom or dad? St. Thérèse would say
no! Run from that evil and into Jesus’
arms! How do we do that? Say a prayer right away or walk away from
someone or s situation that may make you lose your temper or just speak that
truth right away! Then say a prayer to
Jesus to help you – Jesus always comes to help us!
In
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, please
help us have the courage to always run to you right away when we meet with
temptation! You resisted the devil in
the desert and only You can guide us through the storms safely.
"On
each fresh occasion of combat, when the enemy desires to challenge me, I
conduct myself valiantly: knowing that to fight a duel is an unworthy act, I
turn my back upon the adversary without ever looking him in the face; then I
run to my Jesus and tell Him I am ready to shed every drop of blood in
testimony of my belief that there is a Heaven, I tell Him I am glad to be
unable to contemplate, while on earth, with the eyes of the soul, the beautiful
Heaven that awaits me so He will deign to open it for eternity to poor
unbelievers." – Story of A Soul, Chapter IX
Lord
Jesus, please help us to learn to replace failings with little acts of love and
sacrifice. Help us see who needs your
love today and act on it.
