Day 27 – 5th Friday of Lent, March 31 - Following St. Thérèse’ Little Way through Lent

Day 27 – 5th Friday of Lent, March 31
Today we read a little more of St. Thérèse’s poem.  She reflects on Jesus in the Eucharist coming to our hearts and how that can help us give a gift back to Him.  She says this gift is a gift of souls she has been praying for.  Yet, she just focuses on today and does not worry about what is to come.  And who is better at helping us in this than our sweet Mother Mary?!  Let us seek to place our trust in God – just for today!  And remember any Lenten sacrifices we may offer - just focus on doing them, just for today!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.  Thank you, dear Jesus, for loving us so much!  Thank you for giving us the gift of yourself to us in Holy Communion.  You became so small that You might join yourself to us.  Help us to trust you more today!

St. Thérèse teaches us through her poem ‘My Song for Today’ cont’d (stanzas 8-11):
“Living Bread, Bread of Heaven, divine Eucharist,
O sacred Mystery! that Love has brought forth …
Come live in my heart, Jesus, my white Host,
Just for today.

Deign to unite me to you, Holy and sacred Vine,
And my weak branch will give you its fruit,
And I’ll be able to offer you a cluster of golden grapes
Lord, from today on.

I’ve just this fleeting day to form
This cluster of love, whose seeds are souls.
Ah! Give me, jesus, the fire of an Apostle
Just for today,

Immaculate Virgin! You are my Sweet Star
Giving Jesus to me and uniting me to Him.
O Mother! Let me rest under your veil
Just for today.” –  The Poetry of St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Lord Jesus, please help us to pray for others.  Help us to remember to seek the help of your dear Mother every day.  Help us to be strong in our faith and cultivate a bunch of beautiful grapes of souls for you!

Our Father …
Hail Mary …
Glory Be …

Merciful Father, in the name of Your sweet Jesus, of the Blessed Virgin and of the Saints, I pray that I be fired with Your spirit of love, and that You will grant me the grace to make You greatly loved.  (The daily prayer that St. Thérèse taught us to say, adapted for our little lives.)

St. Thérèse, pray for us!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Today’s Little Flower activity:  Help someone in a way they wouldn’t expect today!  (Color in a flower for Jesus when your mom or dad has seen that it is completed!)
