Day 23 – Monday, March 27
Sometimes it is hard to pray.
Sometimes we don’t feel anything when we pray and it can make us kind of
sad. We call that a prayer time that is
“dry.” But this is a normal cycle of
prayer life. And St. Thérèse said she
had times like this too! She said even
during these dry times she still would try to do little things to show her love
for Jesus. She may not have felt like
praying long prayers or big acts of love or sacrifice, but she said she could
still do little things that day and we can too!
In
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thank you, our dear Father, for loving us so much! Thank you for being near us even when we don’t
feel it. You are always faithful and we
glorify your name.
St. Thérèse teaches
us:
“In
times of aridity (dryness) when I am
incapable of praying, of practicing virtue, I seek little opportunities, mere
trifles, to give pleasure to Jesus; for instance a smile, a pleasant word when
inclined to be silent and to show weariness. If I find no opportunities, I at
least tell Him again and again that I love Him; that is not difficult and it
keeps alive the fire in my heart. Even though this fire of love might seem
extinct I would still throw little straws upon the embers and I am certain it
would rekindle.” – XVI letter to her sister Celine
Lord
Jesus, please help us to continue to make itty bitty acts of love even when we
don’t feel like it. Please comfort us to
know that this is okay and that you love us even if we can’t say all our
prayers with a happy heart today. You
love us anyway! Help us to love you more
and more.
Our
Father …
Hail
Mary …
Glory
Be …
Merciful
Father, in the name of Your sweet Jesus, of the Blessed Virgin and of the
Saints, I pray that I be fired with Your spirit of love, and that You will
grant me the grace to make You greatly loved.
(The daily prayer that St. Thérèse
taught us to say, adapted for our little lives.)
St.
Thérèse, pray for us!
In
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Today’s Little Flower activity: Be
extra loving to your family today and hold back negative words. (Color in a flower for Jesus when your mom or
dad has seen that it is completed!)
